I use to be just like everyone else. I'd go to the gym and lift weights. At first, seems like I made some good gains. But after a while, those gains were few and far between. And I like the feeling of making progress, it keeps me motivated.

As if by luck, I found some information on bodyweight exercises. You remember those exercises, from the physical education days? So when I started doing the bodyweight exercises, I started to feel like I was making progress again.

And thenI started doing exercises with very light weight, not iron pumping exercises, but exercises that challenged me in ways like no other. And sometimes I only used as little as five pounds. I guess you could also classify these as bodyweight exercises.

Then to add to my increasing repertoire, I added exercises with kettlebells and balance exercises with the stability ball. I now have so many exercises in my routine I'll never get bored with working out again. One of the worst feelings you can have is dragging your butt into the gym unexcited for your workout.

I'm pumped when it's time to workout. Just some of my exercises but definitely not a full list:

1. Crunches on the Swiss ball

2. Leg swings

3. Side bends on the stability ball

4. Military press on balance disks

5. Pushups, feet on stability ball, hands on balance disks

I literally have countless routines I can do. Looking forward to exercise the way I do, no wonder I'm feeling better than I ever did? Variety is your friend when it comes to exercise, start to use it and you'll never be bored again.

Most of the resources I've found on my way back to being in tip-top shape, I've found right on the Internet. I didn't spend big bucks like those fitness commercials, just a book here and a book there, and before you knew it I had all kinds of exercises.

Whenever I feel like I need more variety in my workouts again, I usually pick up another book out there on the web. Before you know it, I'm off and running again. This approach may not be for everyone, some guys like hanging around the gym. But not me!

Give me a workout room, a stability ball, my kettlebells and my jump rope and I've got all I need but a butt-kicking workout.
